  Ingredients

  For the gravy:

  • 2 tbsp oil or ghee
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • 2-3 cloves
  • 1 green cardamom
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 large tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1-2 green chilies, slit (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup water (adjust as needed) 
  • 1/2 cup fresh cream (or malai) 
  For the paneer:

  • 200-250 paneer, cut into cubes
  • 1 tsp kasuri methi (crushed)

  How to make paneer masala🍲

 Step 1: Prepare The Base Gravy

  • Heat oil, butter, and whole spices in a pan. 
  • Add chopped onions and saute until golden brown. 
  • Add ginger-garlic paste and saute till the raw small goes away. 
  • Add tomato puree and cook until oil starts separating. 
Step 2: Add the spices

  • Add turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. 
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes to let the masala blend well. 
Step 3: Add cream & water

  • Add water as needed to adjust the consistency. 
  • Stir in fresh cream and simmer for a few minutes. 
Step 4: Add paneer & finish

  •  Add paneer cubes and kasuri methi. 
  • Simmer for 3-5 minutes. Don't over cook the paneer.
