Ingredients

For Marination:

  • 6–8 chicken drumsticks
  • 1/2 cup thick curd (yogurt)
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp oil

For Cooking:

  • 2 tbsp oil or ghee
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp crushed black pepper (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Clean & Marinate

Wash and pat dry the drumsticks. Make small cuts on them for better marination.
Mix curd, spices, lemon juice, and oil in a bowl. Coat the chicken well.
Cover and marinate for at least 1 hour (or overnight in the fridge).

Step 2: Sear the Drumsticks

Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and chopped onion. Sauté till golden.
Place the marinated drumsticks and cook on medium flame until lightly browned on all sides.

Step 3: Cover & Cook

Cover with a lid and cook on low flame for 20–25 minutes, flipping occasionally.
No need to add water; chicken will cook in its own juices.

Step 4: Finish & Serve

Once fully cooked and slightly crisp, sprinkle black pepper or fresh coriander.
